It’s a minor pet peeve, but it is everywhere today so errrr…. please keep in mind that “Rest in Peace”/RIP literally comes from a latin phrase and is a very very deeply Christian expression.
When talking about the departed, Jews say “may their memory be a blessing.”
So please, when talking about a dead person who is Jewish, try to keep in mind that RIP is a Christian phrase.
I learned something today, so I’ll pass it on so someone else can learn too
homeless people are part of your community!!!!! get with it!!!!!!!!!!!!! they’re not outside interlopers they’re not invaders they’re not vermin. homeless people = people deprived of homes, they are Victims and you should be angry on their behalf because people are being deprived of shelter in Your Community
no one deserves homelessness and no one brought it on themself, not even alcoholics and drug addicts and unmedicated/uncooperative/“unreasonable” mentally ill people
if a person does not have access to appropriate shelter and is forced to either try to find a homeless shelter that isn’t full to capacity AND won’t abuse them/put them in danger, or live and sleep in public areas (which is literally criminalized like….. everywhere)
they have been purposely deprived. basic human needs are being used against them, the necessities for human life are being withheld from them and they don’t deserve that. if u have been or are currently homeless, you didn’t and don’t deserve that
On October 11, 1988, ACT UP members from all over the country descended on the headquarters of the Food and Drug Administration in Rockville, MD, in an action they called “SEIZE CONTROL OF THE FDA.”
ACT UP activists demanded that the FDA make its drug approval process faster and more ethical in order to get more experimental drugs into the bodies of people who needed them. They demanded that drug trials include women, people of color, IV drug users, and all other people with AIDS who had traditionally been excluded from trials and therefore denied access to new drugs.
As a result of the action and ACT UP’s continued lobbying, the FDA adopted ACT UP’s proposed structure for drug trials, Parallel Track, which greatly expanded access to experimental medicines.
